Lesson Plans for the Week of January 5 - 9 , 2009

FALCON BAND

OBJECTIVE
Demonstrate a continued growth in those skills begun earlier in instrumental music.
ACTIVITIES
consistent rehearsal routine, review and reinforce effective practice routine
ASSESSMENT

OBJECTIVE
Demonstrate an increased awareness in phrasing, dynamics, articulation, intonation and balance.(1AM-E4)
ACTIVITIES
Practice and perform pieces that vary in style. Have students isolate focus on a certain element and perform individually or as a group
ASSESSMENT

OBJECTIVE
Demonstrate an increased awareness of the importance of proper breath support, posture and embouchure as it relates to tone production. (1AM-E3)
ACTIVITIES
Explain, model and have students demonstrate lip slurs, long tones, breathing exercises, incorporate into warm-up routine
ASSESSMENT
student performance, self-assessment, peer assessment

OBJECTIVE
Play with increasingly accurate pitch, be able to identify if a pitch is sharp or flat and know how to adjust the instrument to compensate for pitch problems
ACTIVITIES
Compare and contrast intonation during group and individual tuning. Demonstrate with like and unlike timbre instruments.

OBJECTIVE
Follow and interpret conducting gestures
ACTIVITIES
Practice scale activities with different conducting gestures, sing part while watching conductor, question and discuss
